1.2 Objective and Contribution

The objective of this thesis was to investigate whether there is a need for metapolicies and which tasks in a policy-based management they can carry out.

As a result of my investigation into the policy moving processes, I introduced an enhanced policy life cycle. Then, I derived a demand for managing the policy life cycle and introduced a metapolicy concept to accomplish this task. Finally, I developed a design for integrating some basic metapolicy support into an existing policy-based management application.
