5.5.3 Integration
This class of metapolicies governs the distribution and test
concerns. They are used by the distribution process and by the test
process. Table shows some example metapolicies for the
integration process:
Table 5.3:
Example integration metapolicies

- The first metapolicy specifies a general constraint in the
integration phase. The management agent may be responsible for
registering or testing a policy in its domain. For this, it must be
running correctly in the integration process.
- In the second metapolicy, an additional constraint is added to a
policy state. This may force the system keep the policy persistently
stored or trigger an action resulting in the transition of the policy
to an inactive state.
- The third example specifies a constraint for the activation of an
already integrated policy. A successful enforcement can have external
conditions that must be satisfied in advance. This has to be ensured
before a policy becomes active.
- The last of the integration metapolicies governs explicitly the state
of a policy in the policy life cycle. This has consequences for other
supporting processes such as the distribution process if it is not
allowed to start the distribution before a policy has reached this
state.
