This section shows how we subdivide the overall `lifecycle' of
dependency models--from their conception to their utilization--into
phases and explains the subtasks that have to be carried out in those
phases, together with an overview of the state of the art of
conventional modeling approaches.
The structuring of the process further helps to understand the
requirements on automated modeling and how our new method (described
in the next section) provides solutions for them.
The main phases are:
- 1.
- object selection
- 2.
- tool installation
- 3.
- model creation
- 4.
- model based management
The first two phases are needed as preparation for the
actual automated model generation, while the last two take place
at operation time.
